1. Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and username. As you use the application, we also collect data you generate: watchlists, price alerts, stock comments, and any documents (PDFs) you upload for AI analysis.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to provide and improve the InvestJournal service: authenticating your account, delivering price alerts and notifications, personalizing your watchlists and portfolio view, and enabling AI-powered document analysis and stock research features. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Artificial Intelligence Processing

InvestJournal uses Google Gemini to power AI chat, stock analysis, and document question-answering features. When you interact with these features, your queries and relevant document excerpts are transmitted to Google's API for processing. Document content is converted into numerical embeddings stored in our database; the original text of uploaded PDFs is not retained beyond your session unless explicitly saved. Google's data handling is governed by the Google Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy).

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party services to operate InvestJournal: Google Gemini (AI analysis and document embeddings), financial data providers (stock prices, ratios, and market data), MailerSend (transactional email notifications), and Railway (cloud hosting and database infrastructure). Each provider processes only the data necessary to perform their function and is bound by their own privacy policies.

5. Data Retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, your personal data will be deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by applicable law.

6. Your Rights

Under Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25) and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal information, as well as the right to data portability and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us through the InvestJournal application.

7. Cookies

InvestJournal uses authentication cookies strictly necessary to keep you signed in. These cookies are HttpOnly, Secure, and SameSite=Lax. We do not use tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies.

8. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Québec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, including Law 25 and PIPEDA.
